Annual Campaign Off to a Promising Start UTICA, NY (October 20, 2011) – United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area is mid-way through its Annual Campaign and has positive news to share with the Mohawk Valley community. Representatives from United Way announced during this morning’s Mid-Campaign Report at the Remington Arms Museum in Ilion that the 2011 campaign is ahead of pace and on target to reaching its goal. “I am pleased with the progress we’ve made on our 2011 campaign thus far,” 2011 Campaign Chair David Sherline said. “We are well ahead of pace compared to the past two years and are showing great promise toward reaching our goal.” As of this morning, United Way has raised more than $330,000 toward its annual campaign goal of $2.75 million. The 2011 campaign, at its mid-point, has seen about a 20% increase in pledges from 2009 and a nearly 50% increase from 2010. United Way Executive Director Brenda Episcopo is encouraged by the mid-campaign results, but reminds the community that there is still a long way to go. “We are half-way through our campaign, but we are not yet half-way to our goal,” Episcopo said. “A majority of the campaign pledges are made during the final months of the year. We are enthusiastic and confident that together our community will achieve this goal.” About United Way United Way of the Valley & the Greater Utica Area is a local, independent non-profit organization funding area programs and services, providing a safety net for our community and addressing crucial community issues in the impact areas of health, education, and income.
