Local United Way Receives A $158,082 Grant For Oneida And Herkimer County Emergency Food And Shelter Programs

January 28, 2010 - United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area has been chosen to receive $158,082 in federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program, also known as FEMA. Exactly $121,083 is designated for Oneida County, and exactly $36,999 is designated for Herkimer County.

October 23, 2009 - United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area held its first telethon on Thursday. The telethon had a dual focus to provide "Coats for Kids" and to fund the 2009 campaign. May 11, 2009 - The Resource Center for Independent Living's (RCIL) Mohawk Valley Asset-Building Coalition, in partnership with United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area, has brought over $2.6 million into the Mohawk Valley community through Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) refunds and waived preparation fees.

 

Saranac Thursday Scheduled Announced

May 11, 2009 - The 11th annual Saranac Thursday season will kick off on Thursday, May 28th and run through Thursday, September 3rd from 5-8PM in the F.X. Matt Brewery's outdoor beer garden. Dr. Robert Bradley Wins First Nonprofits Award, recognized for Outstanding Board Leadership

Economic Climate Forces Local United Way to make financial adjustments

April 27, 2009 - In the midst of an economic crisis, tightening budgets and increasing community need, United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area feels the pressure. Due to a projected significant increase in uncollectable pledges, the Board of Directors approved an amended budget that includes a reduction in the overall community investments, but not a reduction in every program, beginning July 1, 2009.

 

United Way Helps Allocate over $200,000 in EFSP Grants to Oneida & Herkimer Counties

April 22, 2009 - United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area has, with the help of two local volunteer boards, distributed a total of $200,142 into Oneida and Herkimer Counties from awarded federal funds from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program, also known as EFS or FEMA, effective immediately.
